Costly Kelly’s Got Nothing to Say As Trump Escalates His Disastrous Trade Wars

Donald Trump has escalated his disastrous trade wars with Canada once again, now threatening to impose tariffs on cars, trucks, automobile parts, and steel. This comes just days after another wave of his reckless Canadian tariffs went into effect and raised costs on everything from building materials to grocery store products

New Hampshire families continue to pay the price for Trump’s costly and chaotic trade wars, with many already paying nearly $1,700 more in added costs. Each year, New Hampshire exports $1.4 billion in goods to Canada and imports $2 billion in Canadian goods. Trump’s “fluctuating tariffs and volatile rhetoric” have hit small businesses’ revenues by up to 15%, as the state continues to see the “biggest drop” in tourism nationwide.

Despite the continued uncertainty small businesses and Granite Staters are facing, Costly Kelly doesn’t appear to be fazed. Ayotte will only go so far as to offer empty words of encouragement for a resolution. She has failed to join lawsuits against the Trump administration for their illegal tariffs and has refused to demand tariff refunds for Granite Staters.

“New Hampshire’s economy is taking a hit as Trump’s temper tantrums rage on,” said NHDP Chair Ray Buckley. “In case Costly Kelly needed a reminder: her job is to stand up for Granite Staters, not stand silently beside Donald Trump while he makes life more expensive. Ayotte’s empty words won’t lower a single price, put a dime back in a family’s pocket, or save a small business from having to close their doors.”
